I was displaced from Caserio Uchuch. I have
three kids, 8, 11 and 15 years old. I work the field all by
myself. I don't have a salary because I am unemployed.
The war took toll on our well-being. Our house, clothing,
animals, even our harvest was lost.

I tell my kids about our history,
but I try to teach them not to dwell on the past. It's a sad
life living with war.
I would like you to know that as a consequence of the war
there is no work, we live in extreme poverty. I like my
maize and beans, but I can't afford much else - sometimes a
little meat and that's it. I want to work but there is none
available around here, and the government is of no help.
I hope that one day my children can study or even become
teachers. I myself don't even know how to read or
write.
